Our data model determines the eligibility of credits for their use under various market instruments, schemes and frameworks. Currently, VAI shows the eligibility of specific projects and vintages for their use under the following:
- Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
- International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)
- ICVCM’s Core Carbon Principles
- CBL Market’s standardized contracts
- Climate Active
Please note that the summary description of these instruments, schemes or labels is not comprehensive of their eligibility rules. For more details on how this determination is made, please see the references below.

Depending on the availability and completeness of the required data points to determine eligibilities for the schemes/instruments above, a vintage may be deemed:
- “Eligible” if all the data is available and sufficient to make the determination fr the vintage eligibility.
- “Undefined” if there is evidence that the vintage may be eligible but there are still some uncertainties, such as:
- There are data gaps to make the determination
- Issuance is not yet eligible for the instrument
- There are uncertainties given the discretion of the registries, exchanges or host countries
- Rules for eligibility are still pending (e.g. ICVCM’s CCPs or CORSIA Phase 1)
- “Not Eligible” if the vintage does not meet the criteria
- “Not Evaluated” if the eligibility has yet to be determined by VAI through the collection of additional data points.
